Gratitude: Nature’s Perfect, Proven Happiness Drug

If I told you there was one, perfect, scientifically proven drug for being happy and staying that way, would you want it?

If you’re like most people, the answer is probably a resounding yes.

Well, there’s good news. And then there’s some more good news!

Such a “drug” exists. And it’s available to anyone, at any time, no prescription needed.

A wide array of recent research has shown, time and time again, that the most powerful influence on how happy you are is how grateful you are.

No one’s life is perfect. We build these myths into our lives that if we just had “X”—that promotion, that raise, that vacation, that lottery payout, whatever it might be—then we’ll be happy.

But, of course, that’s not true. Plenty of filthy rich people are plenty miserable. And on the other side of that coin, plenty of people in third world countries without clean drinking water are very happy.

It’s all context. And it’s all perspective.

Put simply, it’s gratitude.

How thankful are you for what you do have? How mindful are you about how good you actually have it?

So, the next question is… how do you foster more gratitude in your life?

The Gratitude Journal

At the Wellness Training Institute, it’s our life’s mission to help people like you live their best lives.

Our programs take a holistic approach to the process. We focus on nutrition, mindfulness, movement, and a wide array of other facets of what makes for a joyful, healthy, rich life.

But, before we do any of that with our program’s members, we’ve figured out over the years that the best place to start is with a gratitude journal.

It seems like a funny place to start. I get it.

But, here’s the thing…

It works.

Want to get the most out of your health? It may be as simple as a detox. Here’s a video about what to look for in finding, and successfully completing, a detox that will reset your body and get you primed for a healthy future. Check it out here: http://bit.ly/2x22q5E

And the reason why it works is because before you can change your diet, or begin practicing yoga, or begin fostering better relationships with those around you, or take any other steps toward getting healthy, you have to get your attitude right. You need to move forward with the right perspective. You need to see your life for the miracle it is.

And gratitude journaling is the best way to do that.

How to Start a Gratitude Journal

Here’s how it works:

1. Take a pad of paper and a pen and keep them next to your bed.

2. Right when you wake up in the morning, before you do anything else, write down five things you are grateful for.

3. Repeat every morning.

That’s it!

Soon, this becomes a habit. And as a result of this habit, you’ll notice a significant rise in your happiness.

Again, I know it sounds crazy. Something this simple shouldn’t have such an incredibly huge effect.

But it does. The science backs it up.

And we should be grateful for every simple thing we have.
